ABSTRACT
AMONG the northern kingdoms and peoples clothing was at one time fashioned far differently from nowadays, especially the outer X clothes and undergarments of women. I say 'outer' because in olden days women of rank wore bodices that clung very tightly to the breast and arms, but their extended skirts were, it seems, lengthened enormously, so that one maidservant was hardly enough to carry such a train.
