ABSTRACT

INSOFAR as the northern kingdoms are distinct from one another, those of Denmark and Norway, that is to say, from those of the Göotar and Swedes, if I should seem to deny grandeur and dignity to the splendour of any of these countries with regard to the processions and celebrations with which royal weddings are generally performed, that is not my wish. It can be very firmly maintained that these weddings are normally solemnized with notable assemblies, with many praiseworthy rites, and at inestimable expense, for all the chief personages of either sex, from their own or from the neighbouring kingdoms, are to be invited.
