ABSTRACT

IN the northern kingdoms, as in other regions, having in mind the countless numbers of people with wicked tendencies, they take careful heed to conduct their trials with strictness or mildness, deciding what is wisest for the occasion. I say 'wisest', since in turbulent hearings, during the process of an accusation which is thrown into confusion by a variety of emotional behaviour and continual shouting, disgust and horror overcome the judge.1
