ABSTRACT

THE prowess in archery of the Emperor Commodus, in war or at public entertainments, is quite clear from Herodian, Bk I; according to this writer, his hand was so sure that he hit whatever he aimed at with a javelin or arrow. He had constantly with him picked Parthian archers and Numidian javelin-throwers, and yet he far excelled all of them in dexterity.
