SOLDIERS often wonder among themselves how some men, engaged in violent warfare, leave the field of battle alive or only wounded; for it is observed that they are first into the fight, remain there, and are the last to withdraw or to flee, and quite often let themselves be attacked to the peril of their lives. In view of this you must perceive that there are four kinds of warriors.
