ABSTRACT
WHEN the foe is making a pretence of flight, they take great care, too, not to pursue him with more speed than caution, leaving behind whatever spoil there may be. Sometimes more soldiers meet their end through a feigned flight and concealed ambush than in grim battle; and even if the foe has quit the field either of necessity or of their free will they do not usually disperse at once.
