DIFFERENT regions have different artificers and practitioners answering to the above description, of whom no small number, alas, are to be found in the northern lands, though hardly ones who are possessed of the cunning which Plutarch again and again ascribes to the Arabs and Africans, whom he considers to surpass all others throughout the whole world.1
