ABSTRACT

TO respond to the question frequently asked, whether use is made of cannon in the northern regions and whether these are large, etc., I say to all those individuals who, more from curiosity than intelligence, find themselves vexed by this unnecessary problem that among these men of hardy breed, who are occupied in the unceasing business of fighting, there is no lack of any gun with which to inflict damage repeatedly and forcefully on a foreign adversary, or unhappily and wretchedly on an enemy at home.1
