PEOPLE besieged are harassed, and often stormed, by similar war machines made to hurl boulders; they are not left any peace during which they can obtain even a small breathing space either by night or day, and indeed, it verges on barbarity, !for ordure and things even worse which give off a foul stench are propelled more often than stones into fortresses or cities.1
