ABSTRACT
Radcliffe took a BA degree at St John's College, Cambridge, in 1691, and an MA in 1695. He was sworn jointly as gospeller in the Chapel Royal with William Washbourne by warrant of 2 Mar 1699/1700. He attended the coronation of Queen Anne on 23 Apr 1702 and was confessor to the royal household. His attendances at Windsor and Hampton Court (HC) each summer are noted: 1702: 23 days 1703 82 days (HC) 1705 67 days 1706 61 days (?) 1707 50 days 1708 36 days 1709 63 days 1710 42 days (HC) 1711 21 days (HC) 1712 82 days 1713 159 days (+HC) In 1716 he went to Hampton Court with the Chapel for 70 days during the summer, but died on 29 October. He was succeeded as confessor by Samuel Bentham and as gentleman by Thomas Gethin.
