ABSTRACT
'Giles Cacot' served among the minor canons at Westminster Abbey in 1571-2. He was sworn into the Chapel Royal in place of Robert Goodall, apparently as epistoler, on 13 Oct '1571 ', but probate records for Goodall suggest this is a year too early. The Cheque-Book soon shows:
Dominus Giles Cacott pisteler died the 20th of June [the '1573' in the margin is a year too early for 'Anno 16'], and Barth. Mason from Lichfield (minister) was swome in his place the lOth of October following A° 16° [=1574].
