ABSTRACT
Discussions and collaborative work are an important aspect of design and technology. 1 Children should work with others in planning and apportioning tasks, being prepared to explain, clarify and justify their ideas to others. They also need the experience of working in groups so that they can develop leadership skills and learn to understand, design and develop organisational systems where each person has a specific role. In addition, interaction with others in a group who hold different levels of understanding or skills can help children to develop a greater understanding of many of the concepts and skills required in technology.
