ABSTRACT

Be careful what you wish for, you might actually get it. Good advice when it comes to the news. In the web 2.0 world, you send and control the message, but do not become enamored with the publicity; it must have purpose to move your students forward, not your résumé. The other side of the web 2.0 world is that once you let it out of your controlled space it is there for literally the world to see and spin or edit. Also, despite all of the gloom and doom and pronouncements of the death of newspapers, if you make it into print for something you do not want printed, seemingly everyone reads it and soon it becomes a must-read on social media. The lesson: handle the news with deliberate care.
