ABSTRACT

Education has always been about social engineering of our future societies. At the turn of the twentieth century leaders such as John Dewey taught that the purpose of education was an incubation to developing a better-prepared generation for the near future, as such progressives of the same period joined with industrial leaders to promote a free public education extending through high school to have a more able and talented workforce graduating into our labor ranks. Today, it is interesting to note as our traditional manufacturing economies are in a state of flux the industrialist leaders and their lobbyists are pushing hard to privatize our public education system.
