ABSTRACT

Similar to when people think of “politics” the word discipline conjures images of something akin to Simon Legree or worse. Discipline is a necessary structure of leadership. When it is not used strictly as punishment, it can and does become a powerful tool to meet people’s need for extra help getting to be the employees your team depends on for day-to-day excellence. Discipline like all powerful tools requires careful thought and timely implementation. The path has to be clear, well thought out, and filled in between with no grudges and a clear sense of your students and team coming first.
