Scientific Interpretation and evolution book
Since the days of Imam Isfahani and Shaykh Rashid Rida in the early 20th century, the reticence of the shaykhs regarding religion and human evolution has left the field open to secular writers. Mustafa Mahmud recognizes the evidence supporting human evolution to be overwhelming. Evolution is seen everywhere: in the appendix that was once an organ for digesting grass, the gills and vestigial tail of the human fetus, the replication of cells and formation of DNA, the regeneration of organs. Western critics of human evolution are cited as decisive authorities to establish that much in the theory as it relates to human evolution is conjecture and hypothesis. Nashawati damns the evidence used to support human evolution as being forged. Neanderthal and pre-Neanderthal forms existed but they were forms of ape, not early forms of man. The fossils called Peking and Java were also evolutionary forms of the ape species.
