ABSTRACT

If you want to give an affirmative answer to the question ‘Do you see the old man?’, it is more natural to say ‘Yes, I see him’, than ‘Yes, I see the old man’. ‘Him’, that which you see, is the object. Like in English, Moroccan personal pronouns have different forms depending on whether they are subject or object:

subject object

huwa (he) -u (him)

hiya (she) - ha (her)
