ABSTRACT

Teachers got the grant! That's the good news; the bad news is that they need to implement it. Of course, that's not really bad news, but implementing the grant will certainly be just as critical to their whole project as writing the application was. The author thinks the budget is the most difficult part of a grant application; she also thinks the budget is the most difficult part of successful grant management. Her advice is to keep good financial records and document everything. Even if teacher doesn’t include thank you notes from students in their final report, be sure to properly thank their donors after they finish the grant activity. Thanking funders for their support also allows us to continue a relationship with them. That can also be important. Getting the word out about activities their students are doing with grant funding can encourage other teachers to give grant writing a try too.
