ABSTRACT

This chapter provides some of the empirical results of the application of the GRIT system to the regions and the state of Queensland, Australia. In both the uniform and non-uniform transactions and coefficient tables, sectors are represented by numbers in the interests of space. The tables of multipliers provide a large volume of information with respect to output, income and employment characteristics of Queensland regions; to our knowledge such information has not been available previously for any economy and its constituent regions. The input–output tables and multipliers provide a sufficient empirical base for a detailed study of the spatial structure of the Queensland economy, and this is planned as a topic of future research. Two types of output multipliers were calculated, namely the simple output multiplier as a summation of the columns of the inverse of the open model, and the total output multiplier as the summation of the non-household rows of the inverse of the closed model.
