ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 concludes the book by arguing that as La fanciulla del West’s complex national and generic qualities become better understood, the work may find a more central place in the opera canon. The chapter closes with a reflection on the 2010 reception of the opera’s centennial anniversary revival at the Metropolitan opera house.
