ABSTRACT

Dedicated to public service, Bob Kiley committed his life to helping people navigate through difficult pathways. He was also a CEO of various companies—as well as a CIA agent in the days when those letters were an honorable abbreviation. And he was chairman of many boards, as well as the first chairman of the American Repertory Theatre. Bob certainly stuck to his own religion, which was to clean up the local transit systems. This he did literally in Boston and New York where he had all the graffiti scrubbed off subway cars that had previously looked more like action paintings than public transit vehicles. He did the same cleanup for the London Underground and London Transit and, if left unchecked, would probably have improved systems in Europe, Asia, Iceland, and Alaska as well. He was dedicated to making people move easily through life.
