ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a variety of resources that will find helpful as gain expertise in the development of strategic, ethical public relations and communications plans. On its own, this workbook does not pretend to provide the background theory and practice base that a professional public relations practitioner ought to have to provide clients and employers with optimal public relations programming. It is also important to remember that there is more than one way to interpret and apply the public relations process. The readings and web resources selected to enhance the introductory chapter include a range of well-known, general textbooks in public relations. The selected articles from both trade publications, academic journals, and websites on the general subject of what constitutes public relations practice in the twenty-first century and on ethics as an integral part of the PR planning process.
