ABSTRACT

This short, conclusive chapter makes some points about the implications of emergent taxonomy of gender and sexual identity labels for a number of areas. It begins with an account of how it destabilises older gender/sexual representation but emphasises the continuing regime of authenticity. It briefly discusses impact in three areas: the new taxonomy’s role in disrupting stereotypical representation in a digital era; implications for health service providers and researchers who deal with younger persons using non-binary gender/sexual terminology; and the opening up of new, imaginative ways of reading texts to provide new critical insights for future creativity.
