ABSTRACT

Humans developed philosophy as a tool to create systematic knowledge that could be appreciated for its own sake or applied to make human life better. Philosophy led to a proliferation of divergent ideological systems with conflicting beliefs and values. Some cynically believe that there are only endless and conflicting opinions and no facts or objective world. But the objective world does exist; however, questions remain about what the philosophical concepts of “objective” and “truth” actually mean, and how these concepts are connected to the objective world. We can no longer take the validity of our perception, our language, or our abstract conceptual reasoning for granted.
