ABSTRACT
People need to know how to understand science so as to be able to critically evaluate what science can and cannot do, and thereby make a reasonable judgment about what evidence is available to prove claims true or false. First, people need to realize how little they know as well as the flaws of human knowledge. Then people need to understand that the promise of science is based on a collective, reflective practice of knowing the objective world, which has been called “the scientific method.”
