ABSTRACT

Vowel Harmony exists, but the principles governing it are not known; the initial vowel of the Verb is perhaps determined by Vowel Harmony. Variation in the Subject Prefixes of Class I Verbs and the initial vowel of Class II Verbs occurs. The Self-standing Pronouns often precede the Verb, in addition to the Pro-noun Subject Prefixes. The Adjective, or Noun used adjectivally, without any initial vowel, follows the Noun, and the Relative Particle stands between them. There is also an unrounded central vowel, probably non-phonemic. It would seem that the vowel preceding the Stem is I- or i- when the Personal Pronoun contains a front or close vowel. Singular and Plural are distinguished by Prefixes; vowel variation in the Stem some-times occurs as well. Past Tenses are formed by Suffixes, all of which contain the element Vowel harmony appears to operate in the Suffixes.
