ABSTRACT

In all languages there is Concord between the Noun and other parts of speech, shown by Prefixes. Possessives take the Noun Class Concords In K-M there are three Aspects in the languages Tira, Otoro and Moro, and two in the languages Koalib and Heiban. The Class Prefixes are given with the numbers of the Classes in the Koalib-Moro, Talodi-Masakin, and Lafofa languages, to which they bear some resemblance. In the Tagoi dialects the Class Prefixes function as Noun Formatives, in that Nouns are formed from Verbs and Adjectives by putting them into Noun Classes, with the appropriate Prefixes. Noun Classes distinguished by Prefixes, and Concord with other parts of speech, in the Class languages and in the Tagoi Dialect Cluster (Tagoi, Tumale, Moreb) of T-T. Compare the position of Mbugu, a non-Bantu language, which has adopted the Bantu Class and Concord system.
