ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the structure of the book and provides a rationale for encouraging a particular way of seeing environments that host events. It is explained that using eventscapes as an analytical framework demands a review of concepts drawn from a wide variety of disciplines to examine the reflexive relationship between events and place. This is achieved by combining scholarship with practical insight presented in case studies prepared by designers, planners and event managers.
