ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 builds from the context and terminology of Chapters 2 and 3 (especially ‘medium’ and ‘system’), exploring the relationships between and within sets of connected documents (documents sets comprised of document instantiations) as they appear across different mediums, systems, and formats. Section 4.3 formalises this into a framework, comprising a series of four relationships, which forms a basis for the case studies presented in Chapter 5. Types and degrees of change and notions of ‘sameness’ are considered in connection with the understanding of ‘document’.
