ABSTRACT

The general spatial interaction allocation model of equation can be used as a residential location model to distribute employed persons from their place of work to their place of residence. At this aggregate level, the basic information for these towns can be obtained from the workplace reports of the 1971 Population Census, which provides the following journey to work matrix. This represents a very large proportion of the work trips in the area, with over 93" of those working in the three centres also living in one of the three centres. To generate more interaction in the area, and so disperse more workers away from their work zone, the parameter value. Changes in the transport network, and net changes in the numbers of dwellings in each zone are reasonably straightforward to estimate in the short term. More difficult is the size and distribution of employment in the region.
