ABSTRACT

The vast majority of philosophy, political theory, social theory, economics, social change thinking and “common sense” participate in seeing and thinking “about” the world starting unconsciously from the withdrawn stance. The social movement is actually a movement forward toward the other of each of us liberating the other through the experience of mutual recognition in a great ricochet. The proper way to see the world in its social being is as a vast intersubjective life-world of social energy that is either primarily blocked and collectively withdrawn, or unblocked and collectively fully-present-to-each-other. A “feudal lord” is not a flat entity-like designation of an identity, but is rather an evocation of an alienated manifestation of social being longing to transcend its alienation and afraid of doing so. The spiritualization of a socio-political analysis of class and other hierarchical dynamics in the moment indicates that we must shift our way of understanding historical dynamics.
