Vulnerability and the Moral Nature of Dependency Relations

The main concerns in this chapter are the implications for what is morally as well as materially required to do dependency work. A relational self is needed to do good caring and I posit the idea of a “transparent self.” I ask what the source of moral obligation is in dependency relations. I follow Goodin in setting forth a vulnerability model for moral obligation, but also discuss the limits of a vulnerability model.
