ABSTRACT
The concept of identity is both sociopolitical and personal. At a personal level, the identifications and intersections of identities are a combination of socially privileged or diminished statuses. Both institutional oppression and discrimination are explored for their traumatic potential and effects. The existence of appropriated oppression and internalized judgments of self from a dominant cultural view are identified and addressed. Considerations about problems, causes and solutions, internal and external attribution and personal and community resolution are offered.
