ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 refers to three vodcasts produced by Rodrigues (2016a, b, c). Two of the vodcasts show how two researchers (Wubbels and van Tartwijk) used Interpersonal Behaviour Theory to examine their data, and in the third vodcast, Mainhard describes the State Space Grids approach to scrutinise observational data. Interpersonal Behaviour Theory is based on personality, clinical and social psychology models (Wubbels et al., 2006). The terms, agency and communion derive from the work of Bakan (1966), where agency implies power and control, whereas communion suggests union and friendliness (Wubbels, 2012).
