ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 then discusses the political concerns of participants who described themselves as being in economically precarious situations and who might be considered ‘left behind’ to use the terminology of recent political science accounts. Concerned with class and place in England, it will be argued that though the content of their narratives was highly varied, they all foregrounded personal experiences of material hardship and a feeling of being ‘overlooked’ by the present political setup.
