ABSTRACT

Kurds have a history of betrayal and abuse. There are about forty million Kurds living in Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Armenia. Kurds are the world’s largest population without a state of their own. About half, twenty million, live in Turkey where they represent approximately 20 percent of the population. Kurds in Turkey are predominant in the Southeast. However, they are scattered across the country. After Diyarbakir, the largest number of Kurds in Turkey live in Istanbul.
