ABSTRACT
The evolution of legal gambling in the United States is interesting and very diverse. From 1931 when gambling was first made legal in Nevada as a benefit to the thousands of workers building Hoover Dam, the road to gaming today has been a complicated and interesting journey. Illegal gaming was the order of the day until Nevada became the first state to legalize gaming, bringing regulation and control to an industry that had operated without any before.
