ABSTRACT
Even with the new high-tech slot machines there are ways to take advantage of or cheat the machines or the systems that support them. The slot department has far fewer employees than it did twenty years ago, which has reduced the opportunities for theft and fraud but has also increased dependency on software-based systems to include the slot machines themselves as well as the market and customer loyalty programs associated with them. When these systems are breached untold thousands of dollars can be stolen in a very short period, while being almost undetectable. In this chapter, we discuss the necessary techniques and approaches to detect this activity.
