ABSTRACT
Our reason for being and where it all began for gaming surveillance and investigations: a good case can be made that casino security and surveillance were formulated to provide protection of table games. In fact, not too many years ago most surveillance work began and ended in the pit. At that time and to a large extent today table games were scammed and cheated on a regular basis and required that protection. It is the nature of the beast for table games to be attacked. This is due to those who protect the games, who may not be as knowledgeable or as experienced as they should be, attempting to detect a cheater or advantage player who is an expert at their scam or move. Additionally, employees working in collusion with each other or outside agents can go undetected for years. This chapter provides investigative techniques and knowledge to assist you in your detection and investigation of cheating, advantage, play, theft or fraud occurring in the pit.
