ABSTRACT

Meaningful healthcare experience design is a new approach to design and improve healthcare services. As with any significant change in an organization, it needs the approval and support of the senior management. In developing the proposal for senior leadership, the Taskforce needs to consider whether the basic structures exist within the organization to implement meaningful experience design. An organization-wide improvement plan should be modified to describe the meaningful experience program as a methodology and describe the way it works as a component of the overall program. Once the performance improvement plan has been modified to include the meaningful experience design elements, it should be submitted to senior management and to the committees that serve as support for the methodology for their review and approval. Even for people with experience in healthcare quality improvement and process improvement, the new elements in meaningful experience design require additional time and training to ensure everyone understands them and can work effectively together.
