ABSTRACT

One of the categories of indicators that a new day is coming for the global rule of law is that we are on the verge of major social changes in all the classic United Nations categories: human rights, economic and environmental regulation, economic development, and peace. All the changes in attitudes and major social progress will inevitably play together. Progress on economic development and human rights will facilitate the kinds of changes in attitudes needed for significant arms reductions and a greater willingness to rely on global legal structures. Since 1789, the idea of peaceful settlement of international conflict via the world rule of law has had some prominent proponents. While each of the world peace through law (WPTL) components is individually very worthwhile, by combining a Nuclear Weapons Abolition Convention with a Global Rule of Law Treaty, people would finally have a comprehensive system of "world peace through law".
