ABSTRACT

While the coaching industry around the world is thriving, it has been posited that answering the question “does it work?” is no longer enough, and that it is now time to shift to “how does it work?”. ACC can answer that question. Based on the principles of ACT, it has a robust theoretical framework, structured around Relational Frame Theory. It emphasises experiential over verbal instruction, and is based on a theoretical model that is trans-diagnostic and versatile, allowing it to be used in any setting with any presenting issue. It is inherently humanistic, compassionate and optimistic, offering a path towards a life of fulfilment and meaning, even in the face of thoughts that may seem overwhelming and feelings that may seem unbearable.
