ABSTRACT

The Republican Party is a very big party led by a group of eminent men, worthy in every respect of the esteem, admiration and gratitude of the civilized world. It saved the American republic between 1860 and 1867, and it produced great spirits like Theodore Roosevelt and Lincoln; it represents an Anglo-Saxon industrial aristocracy, with a great deal of dignity, consistency and good sense. It is one of the greatest political institutions in the world and one of those whose finances are the best managed. During the war America had made a great deal of money, and now people wanted to keep this money and enjoy it in peace. One of the objects of Warren Gamaliel Harding's admiration was Herbert Hoover, and Harry M. Daugherty shared this predilection. The intelligentsia of America regarded Hoover as one of the greatest men of the age; the New Republic and the pink salons of New York helped to promote his success.
