ABSTRACT

The Salomon Brothers World Equity Index (SBWEI) is a liquid, market value-weighted component of the Salomon Brothers World Equity Index that tracks the daily stock price and monthly total return performance of companies that are primarily involved in the property and real estate markets throughout 22 countries around the world, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States. Index constituents are selected from the universe of stocks that make up the Salomon Brothers World Equity Broad Market Index. Country selections are based on the size of the country's equity market, the freedom of capital movement and the ability to repatriate dividends. Companies involved in the property and real estate markets include real estate operators, developers and agents and companies engaged in property management, rental and/or investment.
