ABSTRACT

Muslim immigrants, many of whom were accustomed to the often abusive law of their countries of origin, flooded by the millions to the heart of Europe; but even as clear threats of Jihad were heard in London and Paris. The United States was no different, for in spite of the documentary evidence gathered on film by Steven Emerson in the early 1990s under the threatening heading of Jihad in America, the US approach to potential terrorists was very human and liberal. Both models of Western democracy, the United States and Great Britain, needed a traumatic jolt before they moved to act. Muslims hope to inspire in the Europeans a "Damascene conversion" to an Islamist view of the world. This means radical Muslims who want to implement Ansar al-Shari'a law here and now, violently if necessary, unlike ordinary Muslims who strive to do the same, but more gently and gradually.
