ABSTRACT
“Night belongs to the IDF,” so they said. Night operations have been an IDF trademark ever since the Hagana and the underground organizations that preceded the establishment of Israel. The IDF reached its zenith in night actions in the large-scale retaliation actions before the Sinai Campaign of 1956. The armor also developed techniques for the use of large units under cover of darkness, and the Air Force tried to keep up with the ground forces.
