ABSTRACT

The Kremlin now bares its fangs in its first threat of direct intervention. Yesterday, the Russians began to grasp that the Syrian front was collapsing, and that far from taking the Golan Heights, the Syrians now faced a threat to Damascus, the nest of Arab nationalism. The Soviet communications media gave voice to the Kremlin’s fury: “The Soviet Union will not be able to remain indifferent, in the light of the criminal acts of the Israeli Army.”
