ABSTRACT

Cease fire discussions between Leonid Breznhev and Dr. Kissinger open in the Kremlin today. Israeli representatives in Washington are making an effort to persuade the Americans not to mention Resolution 242 – which speaks of withdrawal from territories conquered in the Six Day War – in any proposed Security Council resolution. The Americans say they will try but will not insist if it endangers chances of a cease-fire. President Nixon is prepared to guarantee rejection of any proposal for discussions under the auspices of France and Britain.
