ABSTRACT

The first Israel press report of tension on the borders appears this morning. Ha’aretz notes – in an item on an inside page – an alert on the Golan Heights, following Syrian transfer of army units from its Jordan border. The Israeli press is fed such tidbits only by Israeli military sources. The report says that suitable measures of alertness have been taken in the north, but tourist traffic on Golan is not restricted. The explanation is given as the great aerial battle on September 13. In public, the feeling is that it all stems from Syrian anxieties, and there is no reason for Israelis to worry.
