ABSTRACT

In the seven years that Schumpeter was a professor at the University of Bonn, he lived in that city for two consecutive years on two different occasions plus the final year there. His work at Harvard and travelling punctuated those five years, but even when he was in Bonn he travelled frequently, lecturing all over Germany. When he arrived back in Bonn after his year at Harvard, he began his second two-year stint at the German university. Those two years were highly productive in scholarship and also witnessed the coming of age of Schumpeter as a teacher. It also included another, shorter stint at Harvard and a brief but memorable visit to Japan.
